Hyundai, the South Korea-based car maker, on Friday declared the start of bookings of its yet-to-be-launched compact car "Eon". The bookings have already started from October 1. The car will be developed in India at Sriperumbudur, Chennai-based manufacturing unit of Hyundai Motor India.
This October, the company will roll out Hyundai Eon and the latest edition of hatchback, making a festive splatter in the market. Since the launch of Hyundai Santro 10 years back, Eon is likely to be Hyundai's upcoming hatchback for Indian users.
As of now, the compact-car market in India has primarily been conquered by Maruti Alto, which is pegged at almost Rs. 2.50 lakh to Rs. 3.80 lakh. The second entry in the compact-car category is Chevrolet Spark, which costs somewhere between Rs. 3.09 lakh and Rs. 4.46 lakh.
Since the last seven years or so, these cars are dominating the Indian compact car market. But, the trend is somewhat changing nowadays, with new compact cars like Ford Figo and Honda Brio enticing the onlookers, at least fairly. However, Eon is all in eagerness to tackle all these challenges and opponents. Rest assured, Eon's distinct exterior and competitive price will certainly make it stand out in crowd.
